Laxman Prasad

Laxman Prasad is a  founder member and Coordinaror of Vidya Ashram.  Resident of a village near Sarnath, he is a teacher   and is known as master Saa’b in the area. In his late 30s now. he is a product of the politics of Shoshit Samaj Dal and Arjak Sangh, political and cultural organizations of the backward castes and dalits against the hegemony of the uppercastes.

Laxman Prasad has been with the Lokavidya movement from the mid-ninties. An organizer of the artisan classes and the poor vegetable growers he has experimented with running a school called Bhaichara Vidyalaya for children of the poor in the villages . An express object of the school was to have a strong interaction with the local society . He is known in the locality for unflinching support to the cause of the poor and for honest and clear thinking .

He has collaborated with the publication of Lokavidya Samvad , he was on the editorial board of the Varanasi based publication Karigar Samaj during 1998-99 . He was one of the organizers of Lokavidya Mahadhiveshan, Varanasi, 1998 . He was the chief organizer of Karigar Sammelan .
